Channel Craft is a US-based toy and game maker that we love at the Local General Store. The toys are hand made in an old steel mill town in Pennsylvania and are based on simple, old-fashioned toys. Such an awesome company!

SoYoung: SoYoung creates lifestyle bags and accessories for modern families from its studio in Toronto, Canada.  Its mission is to add beauty to the everyday moments of parents' lives by elevating the design of essential items. An important feature of their lovely linen backpacks is the fact they're machine washable.

Wooden Toys and Trains by Tuff Toys. Tuff Toys is a small business run by Gary Owens in Salmon Arm BC. Gary is a school bus driver and self-taught wooden toy maker extraordinaire. In 1987, Owens started with a hand held drill and a small jig saw making the odd Christmas present for his two boys, nephews and nieces. He uses locally sourced woos and creates beautiful and sturdy toys that children love. (Have you ever been in our shop and seen kids playing with the table-top train set?). Owens has made his tracks compatible with the Brio wooden train sets so they can be added into the sets that many kids already have. Owens also donates thousands of toys to the local food bank.

We love supporting this cottage industry!
